Question: Where can I find the paint code, or buy paint, for the turquoise paint on a 1956 Dalton?
Answer: What I would do is buy some urethane paint from Rodda Paint. It is a two part paint that can be tinted. If you have a chip or a part of the trailer take it down and they will color match it. The good part about this paint is that it has a chemical hardener which makes if dry in 3 hours and it will be very durable. If you don't need a gallon of turquoise have then split it up into 4 quarts and only tint one. Remember to buy some metal etching primer (eg: rustoleum or cloverbond) and lay down a nice coat before applying the paint. Put the primer on when it is cool so the acids have a chance to etch the metal. I will be doing the same process/same color to my 63' fireball in the next couple months as well. Good luck!!

ReplyDeleteI'm working on a 57 Sante Fe, and while taking out the rotten wood floor I've found a metal layer underneath which also looks rotted. Any advice on replacing it? Haven't seen this talked about anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI just purchased a 1958 Fireball, 13.5' trailer. I need to replace the floor tile but would like to find as close to the original streaked with turquoise. Doe's anyone know where to purchase? I found that Armstrong has some retro looking tile. I'm also assuming the old tile has asbestos, what do you think? If it does do you know the proper way to remove it?
